How It Works — Typical Treatment Process
Initial Assessment
Medical history, physical exam, blood tests (hormones), ultrasound scans, semen analysis.
Treatment Planning
Deciding whether the patient needs simple/standard IVF, ICSI, or additional interventions based on the cause of infertility.
Ovarian Stimulation
Medications (injections or oral) are given to stimulate multiple eggs. Frequent monitoring via ultrasound + blood tests to check response.
Egg and Sperm Collection
- Eggs are collected via a minor surgical procedure.
- On the same day or previously, a sperm sample is obtained.
Fertilization in Lab
- Fertilization either by mixing sperm & eggs (standard IVF) or injecting sperm into eggs (ICSI).
- Embryos grown for some days.
Embryo Transfer
- One or more embryos are transferred into the uterus.
- Surplus good embryos may be frozen.
Post-Transfer Care and Follow-up
- Medications to help with implantation.
- Pregnancy test after about 10-14 days.
- Ongoing prenatal care if pregnancy established.
